Zara Houshmand is a poet, playwright, author, and editor. She's co-editor
of Consciousness
at the Crossroads : Conversations With the Dalai Lama on Brain Science
and Buddhism (1999, Snow Lion) and Boundless
Heart: The Four Immeasurables (1999, Snow Lion) . She is also the co-author
of The
Lhasa Moon Tibetan Cookbook (1999, Snow Lion). A member of the Darvag
theater group in San Francisco's Bay Area, her most recent production was
Bahram Bayzaie's Eighth Voyage of Sindbad which she co-translated
and did the production design for.
Houshmand's poems have appeared in A
World Between: Poems Stories and Essays by Iranian-Americans and recently
her translations of Rumi's rubaiyat have been posted regularly in The
Iranian Times.
