The Iranian
Nina Sharif, who has lived in Berkeley in northern California for many years, got back from a visit to Iran just a few weeks ago. With her she brought these pictures from Maydan-e Tajrish, or Maydoon-e Tajrish, a sort of mini bazaar in northern Tehran. They are only simple images from here and there. But as I looked at them, I could see, hear and feel the hustle and bustle of Tehranis shopping for everyday goods. I could even taste the sweet laboo and the salty baqala (boiled beet and lima beans). Enjoy.
