    The Iranian

The photographs of Morad Boroomand aren' t sad. They don't speak of time frozen in tradition, poverty or lost childhood. They're haunting.

Boroomand was born in Tehran 1954. A graduate of Alborz High School in Tehran, he learned photography from his father. He came to the U.S. in 1977 after getting his BA from Melli University's School of Science. In 1981 he received his engineering degree from the Catholic University.

He currently runs a photo studio in Bethesda, Maryland, with his wife Karen. Here are some of his snap shots from Iran:

    Paado
    Prayer
    Kashan kids
    Alley
    Ghezy
    Ghezy II
    Kids
