Vaagh'eh 1
A documentary by Mahin Bahrami (2004), 11 minutes
Saturday June 12, 2004 8:00 PM

The Ta'ziyeh is a religious passion play that derives from deep-rooted traditions. In recent years there have been many documentaries about the Ashoora ceremonies in Iran where the faithful mourn the death of Imam Hossein, one of the most revered Shiite saints. What makes Mahin Bahrami's short film unique is that you do not hear the chanting. Instead the mourners' movements have been synchronized to popular Western techno music. (No dialogue). The filmmaker Mahim Bahrami will be present at the screening. Festival index
