Ali Rahbar picked up a camera only in 1984, when he was a 17-year-old chronicling the Iran-Iraq war.
These days Rahbar is one of Iran's top sports photographers. He has been the artistic director of a national sports photo exhibition for the past two years and a collection of his works at the 1994 Hiroshima Asian Games is to be published soon.
Rahbar took the cover photo for the current issue of The Iranian during a recent trip to Turkman Sahra in northeastern Iran, where the country's best jockeys run their horses. While in the area, he also took these snap shots.
