Iran buys 1M tons of wheat from Canada, sources say
CHICAGO, Augu 24, 1999 (Dow Jones)-- Iran bought one million metric
tons of wheat from Canada Wednesday, sources said.
The sale was reported by Chicago consulting firm AgResource, which said
in a market comment it had heard "strong rumors" of the deal.
Joe Victor, analyst with brokerage Allendale Inc. in McHenry, Ill.,
also had heard of the sale.
" Iran picked up one million metric tons of wheat from Canada,"
Victor said.
Delivery dates were unknown, and there was no official confirmation.
There was no answer at an office representing Iranian interests in Washington,
D.C.
