Foreign workers take $1.2 billion out of Iran annually
June 30, (The Middle East Observer) - Mashad, Khorasan Province - A
senior Labor Ministry official said that over one million foreign nationals
illegally working in Iran take $1.2 billion out of the country annually.
The deputy in charge of employment of foreign nationals, Mostafa Emadi,
said that last year 9700 workshops with an illegal work force of 270,000
foreign nationals were identified throughout the country and treated according
to relevant laws.
The foreign staff were later substituted by Iranian labourers looking
for jobs. He said that according to the prevailing laws, one of the provisions
for granting asylum to foreign nationals is that the country undertakes
no responsibility regarding their employment.
Emadi further added that only employment of those foreign nationals
who are legally residing in Iran and are specialized in certain fields
which are needed in the country is authorized. The official was addressing
a gathering on employment of foreign nationals in Iran .
