News coming from Iran reports that several students including a student
leader, Mr. Manouchehr Mohammadi Secretary General of the National Association
of Iranian Students and Alumni, have been kidnapped from the Tehran University
and their whereabouts unknown.
Alliance for Defense of Human Rights in Iran believes that they were
kidnapped by Hezbollahi thugs and fear for their safety. We urge all
human rights organizations, to pressure the Iranian Government for an immediate
investigation into the whereabouts of the missing and release those it
has arrested.
The students were protesting lack of freedom in Iran and for the immediate
release of Hojatoleslam Mohsen Kadivar, an Islamic Scholar sentenced to
18 months in prison as well as Mr. Abbas Amir Entezam, longest held political
prisoner of the Islamic Republic.
This peaceful rally was attacked by thugs. More than 160 people have
been seriously injured.
As one student said in a phone conversation:" We are facing the
assault of the worst type of oppression ever happened in the human kind
history, trying to condemn us to a forced silence by beating, arresting,
kidnapping and murdering us."
