Iran to Sell Oil to Turkey to Help Offset Oil Losses
ANKARA (Sept. 2) XINHUA - Iran is expected to sell oil to Turkey to
help it offset the losses caused by the fire at the Tupras oil refinery
in Izmit, epicenter of the 7.4-magnitude earthquake in western Turkey
on August 17.
In an exclusive interview with the local Daily News published on Thursday,
Iranian Health Minister Mohammed Ferhadi said Iran will do its best to
provide technical aid to Turpras, which was damaged by the fire that erupted
due to the powerful quake.
Ferhadi inspected the earthquake-stricken cities in the Marmara region
and traveled to Ankara for a sereis of meetings between Monday and Tuesday.
In Ankara, Ferhadi conveyed a message from Iran's President Mohammed
Khatami to his Turkish counterpart Suleyman Demirel. The message expressed
Khatami's grief and readiness to provide assistance.
The 7.4-magnitude killer quake hit western Turkey, killing 14,559 people
and injuring 24,093 others.
