a death order against British writer Salman Rushdie. The previous year,
Iran called home its Oslo ambassador to protest what it called Norway's
hostile attitude.
The countries restored diplomatic ties in 1998.
Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg will meet Iranian President Mohammad
Khatami at the United Nations, at the request of the Iranian government,
his office said.
Stoltenberg was expected to raise issues such as the need for political
