August 8, 2000, Teheran (dpa) - The number of Iranian women involved
in prostitution in the Gulf Arab sheikhdoms is increasing drastically,
the Teheran daily Jomhuri Islami reported Tuesday. Persian

``The visit of young girls to Persian Gulf sheikhdoms under the pretext
of finding jobs has drastically increased and upon arrival in the sheikhdoms,
the girls get deviated and involved in immoral jobs,'' the daily said.
For this reason the Interior Ministry is checking the departures of
young women and also checks them again upon arrival in Iran .
Many of the women whose ``immoral activities'' have been proven are
prohibited from leaving the country again. There are however no exact statistics
yet available.
The country's health ministry also fears an increase of AIDS in Iran
. Officially, Iran has 300 AIDS patients.
