Teheran (dpa) - The German national football team is to play a friendly
match against Iran in Teheran, the sports daily Abrar reported Wednesday.
An unnamed official of the Iranian Football Federation (IFF) told the
daily that principal agreements were made between the two federations.
Iran wants the game to be held in the third week of March as a warm-up
to the Asian championship qualifications which start at the end of next
month.
Abrar quoted German press sources as reporting that the German team
wants to include a game against Iran as a warm-up before the start of the
European championship.
Meanwhile, the IFF secretary rejected once again speculation that that
former German national coach Berti Vogts will take over the Iranian national
team.
