I AM NOT AMERICAN
I write to you from Australia hoping you can accommodate an unusual
request. Are you able to e-mail me in Arabic text the phrase 'I AM NOT
AN AMERICAN'. Please do not interpret this e-mail as an insipid inquiry.
Much to my displeasure Australia is becoming a sub-culture of the United
States, engaging in the conceited promotion of the 'would you like fries
with that?' fast food doctrine where consumption is symptomatic of a pretentious
and desensitised society. At least our forefathers did have the providence
not to proclaim in the Australian Constitution 'the right to bear arms'
(and the US wonder why they have so much gun related violence ie. the Columbine
High School massacre in Littleton, Colorado)
Also for your perusal, the third President of the United States, Thomas
Jefferson, decreed 'we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men
are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with certain
unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit
of happiness', as articulate as these words are, the United States public
has a severe case of selective amnesia, failing to acknowledge the fact
that he was the owner of 189 slaves. I find it ironic to say the least
that a President can claim a place in human history as an advocate of equality
and morality when in reality he was a two-faced oppressing bastard.
The United States has pontificated the self-indulgent role of 'World
Police' exercising an arrogant disregard for the United Nations mandate
on matters of international importance ie. the infiltration of CIA operatives
within the UN arms inspector team after the war for oil crisis in Kuwait
and Iraq. However I do find some solace in the fact that all self-serving
empires such as the Roman Empire or the British Empire over a period of
time brought about their own demise, the question is when will this happen
to the United States, one could argue it's already occurring. Anyway, that's
enough political dogma. I would be filled with gratitude and appreciation
if you could appease my aforementioned request.
