News & views Women artists competition, Berkeley I would like to inform you of an upcoming competition for Iranian female artists taking place in Berkeley, California, USA, in conjunction with the International Iranian Women's Conference. This year the committee of IWC, with the encouragement and collaboration of local artists in Northern California, has organized competition for an exhibition of the contemporary arts, produced by Iranian women artists. We would greatly appreciate it if you'd assist us in spreading the news to the Iranian communities through your publication and/or other means of communication. We think that this show represents the opportunity to showcase the Iranian women artists in a new light, not only to a non-Iranian audience but also to the Iranian community which may not have realized itself, in the field of contemporary visual arts. Here's the information regarding the show and a call for entries: The theme of the conference: "Review of Iranian studies and movement in the past two decades and its future outlook" Working title of the exhibit: "Beyond Boundaries" beyond the boundaries of a binding culture Deadline: March 1st 2000 Media: all except crafts Please send: Slides: 20 slides of your most recent work and works related to proposals if applicable Please include a self addressed/ stamped envelope for the return of your slides.
