U.S. 2000 Census: Be Counted!

Did you know that the US government's official count of all Iranians in US is only 200,000!!

Only 200,000!! I can't believe it. They are about 90% off.

Here is our chance with the 2000 Census. Every ten years US government performs a census (people) count. In mid march, these forms will reach our homes. These forms are available in Ten different languages, but NOT FARSI. Since there are only 200,000 of us!

The Census Bureau however recognizes that there may be inaccuracies in the count and has revised the forms to give the chance to correct the count. Since this chance comes once, in every ten years, let's not waste it.

There are two forms. The Short Form (D-61A) or the Long Form (D-61B). 1 out of 6 homes will receive the Long Form. Others will get the Short Form. The questionnaire asks questions about the first person in the household, then the 2nd person, then the 3rd person, so on.

On the Short Form, the race question for 1st person is #7 & #8.
On the Short Form, the race question for 2nd person is #5 & #6.
On the Long Form, the race question for 1st person is #5 & #6.
On the Long Form, the race question for 2nd person is #5 & #6.

Here is what we should do

For 1st person:

question #5 or #7: mark [X] NO, not Spanish/Hispanic/Latino
question #6 or #8: mark [X] Other Asian - print race. write Iranian

For 2nd person and up:

question #5: mark [X] NO, not Spanish/Hispanic/Latino
question #6: mark [X] Other Asian - print race. write Iranian

For each person counted your community will receive approximately $250/year in funding from federal government for schools, roads, buildings, police, parks, flood control, recreation, etc.

Additionally when our numbers get above one million, special fund will be allocated to just our group. Hispanics, Blacks, American Indians, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Taiwanese, Filipinos, Asian Indians, Pakistanis, etc. have been enjoying the benefits of their efforts that began with the census for decades. It is about time we did the same.

Please forward this message along to your Iranians friends, relatives living in the US as well as your local Radio, TV, newspapers. They will receive funding from government for running some advertisements for them. So please forward this message.

Please spread the word and try Census 2000 Web-Site
