Iran Security Service Arrests Alleged Agitator
TEHRAN, Nov 1 (Reuters) - Iran's intelligence ministry has arrested
a man for allegedly stirring unrest on the eve of planned pro-democracy
student demonstrations, the official IRNA news agency reported on Wednesday.
The man, identified as Rasoul Abbasi, was a convicted thief and drug
trafficker who was planning "counter-revolutionary acts in order to
create tension in society," said IRNA, which quoted an intelligence
ministry statement.
Dissident groups have planned pro-democracy rallies in Tehran and at
least three other cities, Isfahan, Tabriz and Eslamshahr, for November
2.
