French members of parliament arrive in Tehran
TEHRAN, April 4 (afp) - A member of the French parliament expressed
his confidence Sunday that Iranian President Mohammad Khatami would visit
France "during the current year."
Socialist party deputy Jean-Michel Boucheron was speaking to the official
IRNA news agency after he arrived in Tehran at the head of a six-person
delegation from the French National Assembly, at the invitation of the
Iranian parliament.
The delegation is to meet parliamentary speaker Ali-Akbar Nateq-Nouri
and Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi, as well as members of the
Iranian parliament, college students and professors.
President Khatami had been due to visit France on April 12, but the
visit has been postponed for reasons of protocol, with no new date set.
