Executive Director Position AMERICAN-IRANIAN COUNCIL
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: American-Iranian Council (AIC) is seeking a dynamic full-time
Executive Director. AIC is an affirmative action employer. Applications

About AIC: AIC was founded in 1997 as a 501(C) 3, non-profit and tax-exempt,
educational organization. AIC offices are located in Princeton, New Jersey.
A Board of Directors, who receive counsel from an Advisory Council, manages
AIC's affairs. AIC has no government affiliation and receives no government
funding.
AIC was established for the purpose of: 1) promoting dialogue and improved
relations between the peoples and governments of the United States and
Iran; 2) supporting efforts to construct a civil society in Iran; and 3)
encouraging the participation of the Iranian-American community in formulation
of US policy toward Iran.
To this end, AIC has: 1) brought together on its Board of Directors
and Advisory Council a distinguished group of Americans, Iranians, and
Iranian-American individuals from the academic, business, and policy communities;
2) sponsored a series of high-visibility conferences and public forums;
and 3) published and disseminated several ground-breaking studies.
Responsibilities: The Executive Director will work under direct supervision
of AIC's President, fulfilling the organization's purpose. The Executive
Director plays a central role in AIC, as he/she is responsible for planning,
implementing, and coordinating all AIC's affairs, including administration,
fund-raising, conference organization, promotion, publication, member recruitment
and relations, and data-base management.
Qualifications: The Executive Director is expected to have an advanced
university degree and be committed to the mission of AIC. Previous experiences
in international organizations or policy institutions are desirable. Written
and spoken communication skills, competency in public relations, a highly-organized
approach to work, and proficiency in the use of computer (such as knowledge
of word processors, data-base software, and e-mail /web site) are essential.
A working knowledge of Persian is preferred.
Salary: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The
range for starting salary may wary between $35,000-$45,000. Salary will
be reviewed periodically and increased as organization's activities expand.
No major benefits are available.
