News & Views Iranian-Americans among top donors to Clinton defense fund THE IRANIAN, August 22, 1998 -- Five Iranian-Americans are among prominent individuals who have donated thousands of dollars to a fund set up to help President Clinton's legal defense in the ongoing investigation against him, according to a report published Saturday. A list published in the Washington Post includes 62 donors who have given $10,000, inlcuding Hollywood "performers and directors such as Tom Hanks, Barbra Streisand, Michael Douglas, Ron Howard, Norman Lear, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw-Spielberg as well as studio executives Jeffrey Katzenberg, David Geffen, Harvey Weinstein and Bud Yorkin." Clinton's legal bills up to last April was estimated at over six million dollars.
