The People's Mojahedin has earned its `terrorist' label
LETTERS

Not all Iranian-Americans agree with the sentiments in recent letters to the editor supporting the People's Mojahedin (April 24 and 28). One of the letters, for example, acknowledges "flaws" of the Mojahedin. Let's consider some of those flaws:
The Mojahedin flag consists of a hammer and sickle, a machine gun and a red star - not exactly symbols of democracy.
For the past 17 years, these rebels have made a happy home for themselves inside that great bastion of "democracy," Saddam Hussein's Iraq, repeatedly expressing sympathy for his causes.
In the 1970s, at least three high-ranking American servicemen were ambushed and killed by Mojahedin forces. Scores of Iranian police, gendarmes and various other government officials have been similarly killed. The Mojahedin has never issued an official apology for any of these actions.
It is true that the People's Mojahedin is fighting against the current regime in Iran. However, Stalin fought Hitler, but that did not make him a democrat. The Mojahedin rebels are now what they have always been - Islamic Marxists and, as the State Department correctly calls them, terrorists.
