News & Views Film about Iran's royal jewels NEW YORK (Variety) - Disney-based producers Barry Sonnenfeld and Barry Josephson have picked up New York scribe Richard Regen's heist spec script ``Kill Van Kull'' for a mid-six-figure price tag. The project is about a double-crossing triangle of Gen-X jewel thieves that targets the Royal jewels of Iran. When its leader, Simon, is betrayed by his partners and sent to jail, he breaks out and seeks revenge. New York-based Regen is a first-time feature scribe who has written articles for such publications as Swing, New York magazine and the Village Voice. Sonnenfeld, currently directing ``Wild Wild West'' for Warner Bros., may take the helm of this project. Links * Iran News |
