Faraj Sarkuhi to be released in January

BONN, Sept 18 (wire services) - Faraj Sarkuhi was sentenced Thursday to one year in prison for "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran," Berlin's Tagesspiegel newspaper was to report on Friday.

News of the sentencing had been conveyed by Sarkuhi himself on a telephone answering machine at the home of his wife in Berlin, the report said.

Sarkuhi said he would remain in prison until next January, as months already spent in detention were factored into his sentence.
