The Iranian
National soccer team strikers Khodadad Azizi and Ali Daie, team captain and goalkeeper Ahmaderza Abedzadeh, and midfielder Karim Bagheri respectively received the most votes among sportsmen as the Iranian of the Year, 1997. * Bagheri: He scored 17 goals in 1997 for the Iranian national team, making him the second leading scorer of that year. (Only Brazilian sensation Ronaldo scored more than Bagheri did).
