Protest
An unidentified woman is detained by security officials at the celebratory
dinner for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) dignitaries,
in the Military Club in Caracas, Venezuela, Wednesday Sept. 27, 2000. The
woman breached the summit's tight security and threw an egg at Iran's oil
minister Amer Mohammed Rasheed, missing him, a Venezuelan security official
said. However, a senior member of the Iranian delegation denied the security
official's version, saying the woman, a member of the Iraq-based Iranian
opposition group, the Mujahedeen Khalq, slapped the head of the Iranian
president's office Mohammad Ali Abtahi and insulted him in English. The
woman was taken into custody.
