company LASMO Plc said on Thursday it hoped to win a role in at least
one of the two projects it was chasing in Iran . LASMO and its recent
acquisition Monument Oil & Gas Plc are involved in a number of Iranian
project bids, with LASMO having submitted redevelopment plans for both

* France pressed to finalise wheat sale to Iran
PARIS, July 29 (Reuters) - French grain traders and bankers have put
pressure on the French government to make available credit guarantees
so they can finalise recent contracts to sell French wheat to Iran , banking
sources said on Thursday. Exporters earlier this month sold Iran at least
300,000 tonnes of French wheat at $93 per tonne Fob, the contracts depending
on obtaining credits backed by French export credit insurer Coface ...

conglomerate pledged to introduce sweeping changes to the multi-billion-dollar
group that has been beset by charges of inefficiency and allegations of

July 28, 1999, MOSCOW (AP)--Russia and Iran are considering new economic
cooperation contracts worth up to $8 billion, Russian Deputy Prime Minister
Nikolai Aksyonenko said Wednesday after talks with a visiting Iranian minister.
Some of the new deals would involve mining and steel projects, Aksyonenko
said after talks with Eshaq Jahangiri, Iran 's minister of mines and metals,

* Mir Moezi had served as NIOC undersecretary of engineering
TEHRAN, July 29 (Reuters) - Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh has
appointed Said Mehdi Mir Moezi as deputy managing director of the National
Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and ministry undersecretary of oil in charge
of production, Iranian sources said on Thursday. Mir Moezi had served as
NIOC undersecretary of engineering and construction prior to his promotion.
``He is a quiet, modest man who gets the job done. He is very low-key,''
said one Iranian source, who asked not to be identified. The sources said
Mir Moezi will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of NIOC as
well as Iranian upstream operations although the oil minister has the ultimate
say.

in Tehran and ongoing hostility toward the United States is likely to keep
Iran from buying U.S. wheat for now, European banking sources and grain

$2 billion in grain sales to Iran, Libya and Sudan under long-awaited new
rules that will become effective Tuesday, Clinton administration officials

published on Monday that Iran was unlikely to buy grain from the United
States and would purchase U.S. goods only if Washington allows imports
