* Turkmens may boost gas supply to Iran to 13 bcm/yr
ASHGABAT, March 16 (Reuters) - Turkmenistan may ship rising volumes
of natural gas to southern neighbour Iran in coming years by boosting the
annual capacity of an existing pipeline to 13 billion cubic metres, Turkmen
officials said on Thursday. Foreign Minister Boris Shikhmuradov told reporters
on the fringes of an oil and gas conference that Turkmenistan could send
up to 13 bcm of natural gas through the Turkmen-Iran pipeline by the end

* Iran reiterates need for Caspian Sea legal deal
TEHRAN, March 15 (AFP) - Iranian President Mohammad Khatami again pressed
the case for a Caspian Sea legal agreement in a meeting with Azeri Foreign
Minister Vilayat Guliyev Wednesday, Iran's official IRNA agency reported.
Khatami said that a uniform Caspian Sea legal agreement would protect the
interests of the states and "ensure that the sea's God-given resources

* U.S. seen easing Iran trade sanctions this week
WASHINGTON, March 14 (Reuters) - The United States was expected to ease
some import bans on Iranian goods this week, U.S. officials said on Tuesday,
in what would mark a step toward a thaw in two decades of icy relations.
White House spokesman Joe Lockhart said there might be an announcement
later this week on Iran. Other U.S. officials said the administration would
likely announce an easing of a ban of non-energy imports from Iran, but

meet domestic demands by 2020 if energy consumption continues to rise,

* World Bank likely to OK Iran loans
WASHINGTON (AP) - Two loans to Iran, the first in seven years, are likely
to be approved soon by the World Bank over U.S. opposition, bank officials
and representatives of other countries say. Bank and Iranian officials
plan a final round of negotiations in Paris before the end of the month
on the $231 million package, bank officials said. If the talks succeed,
the two projects will go before the bank's 24 executive directors, including

* NYMEX crude weakens on OPEC remarks, tight mogas
NEW YORK, March 10 (Reuters) - Crude oil futures on the New York Mercantile
Exchange slipped from the day's highs Friday, after late news that the
U.S. wants OPEC to raise output by 2.5 million barrels per day (bpd) capped
the day's drive to edge higher, traders said. NYMEX crude for April delivery
settled at $31.76, slashing the day's modest gains to just seven cents.
The contract was about to hurdle $32, having posted a session high of $31.99,
late when news about the U.S. request to OPEC hit traders' screens.
