Iranian companies happily testing Iraqi waters
BAGHDAD, Nov 9 (AFP) - As further proof that former foes Iran and Iraq
are improving relations, around 50 Iranian companies are taking part in
the Baghdad International Trade Fair with a view to getting a hold in the

Oil shares nudge higher
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Major U.S. energy company stocks made tentative
gains Wednesday as traders anticipated a victory by Republican George W.
Bush (news - web sites) in the presidential election that could spell more
favorable decisions on domestic exploration and production. Dick Cheney,
who ran oil services company Halliburton Co. before accepting Bush's offer
to be his running mate, has opposed the U.S. government's unilateral sanctions

Armenia eager to get gas pipeline construction underway
TEHRAN, Nov 8 (AFP) - Yerevan wants the planned construction of a gas
pipeline between Iran and Armenia to be speeded up, the defence minister
said during a visit to Tehran on Wednesday. Serge Sarkissian, in talks
with Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi, called for an "acceleration"
of the project, which he said could "contribute to and reinforce relations,"

DaimlerChrysler wins 430 mln euros Iran contract
FRANKFURT, Nov 6 (Reuters) - U.S.-German automobile giant DaimlerChrysler
AG said on Monday its Powertrain division had won a 43O million euros contract
from Iranian bus and truck axle maker V.A.M. Co. The contract is to deliver
completely knocked down components for 14,000 Mercedes Benz axles a year

NYMEX crude up early amid fragile Mideast truce
NEW YORK, Nov 3 (Reuters) - NYMEX crude futures rose early Friday as
clashes flared amid a fragile Palestinian-Israeli truce in the Middle East,
overshadowing an OPEC assurance on oil supply. December crude sprinted
to an early high of $32.75 a barrel, gaining 21 cents. It dipped low as
$32.50 cents. At 1O:39 a.m. (1539 GMT), it traded choppily and was 18 cents
