Iran likely to escape political fallout after reducing Jews' sentences
TEHRAN, Sept 22 (AFP) - Iran has probably got away with jailing 10 Jews
for alleged spying for Israel without too much political and diplomatic
fallout, after cutting the heavy sentences imposed in July, analysts said
Friday. "Iran took world opinion into account when it ruled out imposing
the death penalty, which had been the great concern ever since the affair
broke," political analyst Iradj Rashti told AFP

Iran army testing skills near Iraq

U.S. says Iran should free Jews jailed for spying
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States said on Thursday it was disappointed
by Iran's decision to merely reduce jail terms on 10 Iranian Jews for spying
for Israel, saying they should be released as their trial was unfair. ``The
United States is disappointed that today's appeals court decision in Iran
does not overturn all of the convictions that were imposed on the 10 Iranian

Iran says pressure mounting on US to end sanctions

UNHCR chief arrives in Iran
