BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) - Steve Sampson, who coached the United States
to a last-place finish in the World Cup and then quit, says his next job
in soccer will be at the local level. Sampson said Wednesday that he will
become technical director of the Las Virgenes Soccer Club in Westlake Village.
The club's board of directors has unanimously approved Sampson's hiring,

Steve Sampson, the U.S. National Coach for World Cup 98, and Jalal Talebi,
Iran National Coach, plan to hold a joint press conference and interview
session.
The purpose of this program is to respond to the interest of soccer
fans all over the world, with special emphasis on the historic Iran - U.S.
in Lyon on June 21. This match was praised as the best show of sportsmanship
in the tournament and shows the power of sports to promote goodwill between
all nations.
Both National coaches would like to invite the representatives of the
media, local, national and international, to attend this program and to
present their questions.
The Press Conference will be held on Wednesday, August 5th at 10:00
am at the BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL on Sunset Blvd. in Beverly Hills, California.
