Photo taken in downtown Tehran on 29 June 1981, the day after a bomb exploded at the headquarters of the Islamic Republic Party, killing more than 70 people, many of them senior officials, including the party's leader, Ayatollah Mohammad Hossein Beheshti. Earlier, the "anti-revolutionary" President Abol-Hassan Banisar had been impeached by the Majlis. He soon escaped the country with the leader of the Mojahedin Khalq Organization, Massoud Rajavi.
