THE IRANIAN
Revolution: 1979-1999
In Shiraz: "Monafeq, could you assassinate 35 million Hezbollahis?"
Members of the Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) are described (mostly
in official circles) as Monafeqs (hypocrites). This picture was taken around
1982, when the MKO had launched a widespread campaign to assassinate senior
officials as well as civilian supporters of the Islamic Republic. At the
time, Iran's population was about 35 million.
