According the the Novel "Tarzan" he learned to shave with his father's sharp knife that he found in their cabin .

I know why ..

it's probably because Tarzan was grown up by gorillas and he didn't want to look like them. That can constitute qalyoon thoughts for we iranians having bearded mullahs as rulers.
