Farshid Amin

First Iranian-American to sing National Anthem at U.S. pro basketball game

On November 4, 2009, Farshid Amin became the first Iranian singer to be invited by the NBA to sing the national anthem at the games in ORACLE arena in Oakland, California. He wore a green arm band in support of the people of Iran and became emotional while singing the anthem. When later asked why, he replied " I invisioned myself singing the anthem at the Azadi Stadium in Iran. The thought of it overwhelemed me." That night the Memphis Grizzlies (with the NBA's first Iranian Hamed Haddadi playing Center) lost to the Golden State Warriors 113-105.

Singing the Anthem at Azadi Stadium?

by American Dream on

Singing the "American Anthem" at Azadi Stadium?  That would be cool and awesome.  America is the best country in the universe and the American Anthem should be sung everywhere and anywhere.  Good Stuff.

 Farshid,

Your singing gave me the goosebumps! I hope you can sing at Azadi Stadium soon! Hopefully both men and women are allowed to enter  the stadium and watch you. Thank you for wearing the green armband!

thanks,
