Fighting for democracy

If the system continues on its current path of humiliating the free minded and modern citizens, then the possibilities of a more open, less intrusive and democratic Iran will instead give room to a more invasive, dictatorial and heavily censored media. This would be a natural path since the government would not be able to answer a large portion of its society’s demands. Naturally, the underground press, anti system organizations and oppositions would blossom. One would expect the end of the system in the long run. The mistake that the Islamic Republic’s Sepah has done is the miscalculation that did not consider the people factor>>>

Veil as Mandated

It seems some Muslims in the U.S. have only two things to worry about, Halal meat and veiling (hijab). While Halal meat can be found only in the freezer of ethnic food stores, the veil is visible everywhere, even around public swimming pools. It is considered the most distinctive, controversial, and often resisted sign of Islamic identity especially in Western countries. In some Middle Eastern countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia where hijab is mandatory, the so-called Islamic dress codes are stringently enforced by police. Occasionally, we see a video clip on YouTube of a screaming young lady resisting arrest or begging for mercy while she is being dragged by the so-called Iranian morality-enforcer police toward a waiting police car>>>

Ulterior motives?

Bahman Maghsoudlou's "Grass: Untold Stories" not only tells the story of the film Grass, the pioneer 1924 still-documentary on the migration of the Bakhtiari tribe from their summer to winter quarters in Southwest Iran, but also the lives of three American adventurers who made the film. The book describes, in detail, and on the basis of a variety of sources, including the memoirs and books written by the three Americans adventurers, their life experiences, most importantly, their unusual adventure in making the film Grass. The first half of the book deals with their lives before leaving for Iran and the second their extraordinary adventure with the Bakhtiari migration>>>

بیشه سبز

هوای بیشه بدجوری خفه بود. هیچکس حال وحوصله نداشت. میمون که همیشه از بالای درخت عناب برای اهل بیشه داستان بیشه های آن دوردست را تعریف می کرد و درباره خاطرات سفرش روده درازی می کرد، بی حوصله تر ازهروقتی خودش را با دانه های خشک عناب مشغول کرده بود. از وسطشان نخ رد می کرد. طاووس هم حال بهتری نداشت. او که بعضی عصرها با بازکردن چتررنگارنگ پرهایش برای بقیه هنرنمایی می کرد و همه را سرحال می آورد آنقدر بی حوصله بود که حال تمیز کردن پرهایش را هم نداشت... با اینحال بیشه کم وبیش سبز بود. برکه کم آب شده بود اما خشک نشده بود. خوردنی برای همه پیدا می شد. اما هیچ کی دل ودماغ هیچ کاری را نداشت. انگار دیگه همه داشتند به این وضع عادت می کردن>>>

خاطرات دیکتاتور

من کیم جونگ ایل Kim Jong Il هستم. رهبر کره شمالی. در حقیقت دیکتاتور و همه کاره این کشور. لابد می دانید که تازگی ها هم دوباره با شلیک موشک و آزمایش های هسته ای متعدد نظر همه را به کره شمالی و از همه بیشتر به خودم جلب کرده ام. همین چند دقیقه پیش بود که گزارشی از آخرین آزمایشان پزشکی را درباره پیشرفت سرطان لوزالمعده ام دریافت کردم. گواینکه همه پزشکان اطرافم سعی دارند با گفتن کلمات شیرین مرا دلداری دهند ولی می دانم که حد اکثر تا 3 سال دیگر، تازه اگر خوش شانس باشم بتوانم به این زندگی نکبت بار ادامه دهم. خیلی مسخره است ولی آینده جهان به تصمیمات من بستگی دارد.یعنی اگر روزی از زور عصبانیت به دلیل ورم معده و باد فتق و یبوست مزمن و هزار کوفت و زهر مار دیگر، همین جور شانسکی دستور حمله به کره جنوبی را صادر کنم، جان هزاران نفر در اثر این سوء تصمیم من گرفته خواهد شد>>>
