Think Again

The first concerns World Philosophy Day, organized every November by UNESCO and which, it has been decided, will be held this year in -- Tehran! Before the incredulousness and disturbance the news caused in philosophical circles, the organizers attempted to duck the issue by scheduling a pre-opening, in Paris, on November 18th, followed by a series of meetings in the days thereafter in Mexico, Tunis, or Dakar. But they did not go so far as to cancel the days in Tehran. So, if things remain as they are, one will philosophize from November 21st to 23rd in one of the world's capitals of fanaticism and tyranny>>>

Deal or No Deal

The Obama administration is preparing the ground for tougher sanctions on Iran by pushing to revive last year's ill-fated fuel swap deal. The renewed proposal to swap Iran's low enriched uranium for research reactor fuel is not a serious attempt at engagement, as the Unites States knows it will likely fail. Instead, it is intended to depict the United States as a reasonable negotiating partner, and Iran as a duplicitous state bent on obtaining the bomb at all costs. This could increase support for harsher international sanctions that are more strictly implemented>>>

سیاست اوباما در برابر ایران سخت‌تر می‌شود؟

در صحنه خارجی، به خصوص در رابطه با ایران، جمهوری‌خواهان اوباما را زیر فشار قرار خواهند داد. ایران هم‌چنان یکی از هدف‌های نظامی نومحافظه‌کاران آمریکا است. این هدف در دوران حکومت بوش دوم در دستور کار آنان قرار گرفت، و خطر حمله نظامی به ایران بارها در آن دوره هشت ساله پیش آمد. البته در آن سال‌ها برخی معتقد بودند که آمریکا هیچ گاه چنین قصدی نداشته، و تکرار این جمله معروف بوش که «گزینه نظامی روی میز است» تنها به قصد تهدید ایران بوده است>>>

جوراب و دستکش بهاره

این کار هر روز من است. بی آن که بدانم چه کسی آن را مقرر کرده و بی آن که بدانم چرا، تمام عمرم که نمی دانم چه قدر است، هر روز با یک دستمال سفید همه جا را تمیز می کنم. همه جا را پله‌ها، سالن، تمام نیمکت‌ها، گلدان‌ها، شمعدان‌ها و شمعدانی‌های باغچه، محراب اصلی، کف سنگی راهرو و آن در سبز باریک را. فقط دستم به گنبد و پرنده‌هایش نمی‌رسد. آنها ‌هم بعضی اوقات می آیند پایین و من با دستمال سفیدم گردگیری‌اشان می‌کنم، البته گنبد که نه فقط پرنده‌ها>>>
