Getting serious

The fact that Beijing has agreed to discuss these steps is bad news for Tehran. This is why Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, dispatched the top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, to hold talks with the Chinese government. His hope is that it is not too late, and that he can find a way to persuade the Chinese to back away from the new UN resolution. A new oil deal here, a new gas deal there just might do the trick. It has worked before. It could do so again. However, Khamenei may find that whatever he offers is too little, too late>>>

Help Wanted

Short and campy little Nowruz messages that intricately side step the issues with broad smiles won't do. The Green Movement won't be helped by software much. It won't be helped by arranging for student visas for Iranians students. It won't be helped if it is treated like a movement that has died down and was restricted to last year. The Green Movement needs its own speech, not just an honorable mention in a speech designed to engage the Iranian regime into debate about its nuclear policy>>>

زندان بدون اتهام

وضعیت جسمانی عیسی سحرخیز، از روزنامه نگار در پی اعتصاب غذا در روزهای آغاز سال نو رو به وخامت گذاشته است. مهدی سحرخیز فرزندوی درگفت وگو با کمپین بین المللی حقوق بشر در ایران گفت که او طی ماه های گذشته ۲۰ کیلوگرم وزن کم کرده است و زندان انفرادی و شرایط زندان سلامت وی را به صورت جدی تهدید می کند. این درحالی است که پس از هشت ماه بازداشت وی وضعیت حقوقی پرونده ی این روزنامه نگار همچنان بلاتکلیف باقی مانده است پیگیری های وکیل مدافع و نیزخانواده وی نیز در این زمینه بی نتیجه باقی مانده است>>>

پیرمرد آرام ، آرام داشت به ناجی نزدیک می شد. پایش می لنگید و لباسش ژنده و کثیف بود. ناجی متوجه او شده بود و انتظار داشت بزودی یک مهمان پیر ناخوانده مزاحم خلوت او شود و با چرندیاتی که برخواسته از تجربیات بدرد نخور یک بازنده بودند سرش را درد آورد. از ظاهرش معلوم بود او یکی از آن بازنشسته هایی نیست که ساحل کارون را برای گذراندن بخشی از اوقات فراغت خود برمی گزینند. حتماً یک ولگرد بی خانمان بود که یا همه عمرش بیهوده زیسته بود و یا همه چیزش را در راه زن یا قمار یا تریاک و یا همه با هم از دست داده بود>>>
