Another Iranian juvenille offender is at imminent risk of execution in the prison of Sanandaj, Iran. He is identified as "Selah Taseh" son of Namegh, and is convicted of an alleged murder when he was 15 years old. Selah Taseh is now transferred to the Sanandaj prison for execution. The transfer took place after Selah reached 18 years of age.

On June 10., Mohammad Hassanzadeh (17) was hanged in the Sanandaj prison convicted of a murder he had allegedly committed when he was 15 years old.

Yesterday European Union condemned the imminent executions of Selah and other Iranian Juveniles:

EU Presidency statement on the imminent execution of Selah Taseh and other juvenile offenders

The Presidency of the European Union deeply regrets that yet another juvenile offender is in imminent threat of execution. Mr Selah Taseh was sentenced to death for a crime committed when he was a minor. The Presidency urges the Iranian authorities to immediately halt the execution of Mr Taseh and all other juvenile offenders on death row, including Mr Saeed Jazee, Mr Mohammad Fadaei, Mr Behnoud Shojaee, Mr Behnam Zare and Mr Abu Moslem Sohrabi.

The Presidency recalls its statements of 4 June and 10 June 2008 and again reiterates that all juvenile death sentences are in direct contravention of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s international obligations and commitments to which the Islamic Republic of Iran has freely undertaken. Obligations contained in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child must be fully and unconditionally respected by the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a State Party to both of these legally binding international human rights conventions.
