Why do we enjoy spreading out despair? Why does misery love company? Is it because we want pity and a shoulder to cry on? Perhaps even a savior? Or is it just to get attention? Could it be that we just can’t hold it in and want someone else to contribute to our despondency by saying “hey, I feel that way too!”?
On a personal level, whenever I complain, nag or get sad, I want a savior and I’m not ashamed to say it. Who doesn’t want the perfect person to come and wipe away all problems, bring love and happiness?
I've noticed we all nag here. A bit too much if you ask me.
For the love of all that you hold sacred stop talking about religion! What is it with you people? I scanned through a blog yesterday where someone was being sarcastic about conversion to Islam. It was boring and useless negh after negh. And it wasn’t even interesting negh, or personal, it was recycled negh (the worst kind). My intention isn’t to insult the blogger, I’m sure he’s lovely to hang out with. It's the treatment of the subject matter that confuses me.
Any half wit with a spec of interest in history knows the difference between religion (evil) and political religion (double evil). Intelligent readers also know that all religions have irrational and dumb expectations of their followers and turn deadly in the hands of homicidal psychopaths. Unfortunately stupidity of preachers and followers isn’t unique to us!
As I understand it, many people of a certain faith have to keep some dishes separate based on what they eat in them. Cascade with bleach doesn’t do the trick. People of another faith believe their prophet was the Messiah and escaped death the first time around by simply….disappearing and moving back to his jail cell (who came up with that genius idea?). And believe you me, some people believe that their prophet walked on water, cured the blind, partied with whores and was born to a virgin. It’s all in a day’s work isn’t it? Snakes into canes, spontaneous literacy, fires separating good and evil and religions that just ask for concentration and relaxation! They’re all out there.
If we’re picking on Islam because these days it’s just so darn cool to do so then fine. I can approach all the racist articles knowing they’re devoid of logic and will not be a balanced view of how politics and global economics figure into all that happens in Iran. I’ll know, going in, it’s a negh party.
Otherwise, some balance would be nice. Yeah, yeah, Islamic Republic makes Islam a more relevant issue than say, Scientology. But if we want to discuss the IRI, religion is only a part of it. Certainly not big enough to merit all these “I think I’m being philosophical but my so called analysis is really weak” pieces. If we want to fix the IRI, let’s talk culture, economics, politics, geography etc live on the edge. Get a little crazy.
In any case, I’m not blogging about religion per se. I want to talk about complaining and misery. What makes us think, and I include myself here, that constantly complaining about a religion changes anything? I mean, as an atheist, I have no problem pointing fingers and picking on the religion imposed on my people, but where will perpetual neighing take me?
When I want to make fun of something I take a unique cause. Nose picking. Have you noticed almost everyone always looks inside the Kleenex before throwing away a snotty tissue? OGH.
If I want to fix a problem, I look at the roots. Money, economy, tribal loyalties, politics. That’s right folks, the war in Iraq and the endurance of the IRI is about money not religion.
This brings me to another point. We know Mullahs are robbing Iran. I want to know what they do with all that dough. At least we know that Shah’s posse has been living lavishly for 30 years by stealing, investing and spending. And the mother f*ers sharm ham nadaran. They love being in magazines. They’re proud and their sycophants are proud too. They would give their own mothers and daughters and back doors if necessary. Just so Farah can go to some designer funeral. What does Rafsanjani do with his cash? Take a trip to the South of France? Send his j*ndes shopping? Are they hiding their cash for a rainy day? How can they resist spending even a bit of it? It’s hard to fathom they all drive Corvettes around Meydoon Azadi. Maybe I’m naïve but I don’t see some of these boo gandoos even changing their abaa! Vaghean, what do they do with all that oil money? My lover tells me they invest it and get more power. But power without money mazzeh nemideh. They have loads of money. More power…mo’ money! How do they espend the money? Real estate in foreign countries? That counts as investment that yeilds more cash. What to they do with the cash they get?
Fellow bloggers, must we REALLY take our undefined, superficial, unorganized, poorly researched, propaganda smelling, arrogant, racist, uninformed, politically regurgitated, unstructured, recycled, FOX style and carelessly motivated religious views on line? If we do, can we please pick on all religions? There’s so much untapped potential out there! I’m getting bored here, pity me! Be my Iranian.com savior.

It's in our blood!
by Ali reza (not verified) on Sat Jul 19, 2008 01:00 AM CDTThinking and talking negative is in our blood. If we ask an an Iranian how he or she are doing. They would say I am still breathing, instead of saying I am doing great. We also tend not to show our happiness, because someone may put a curse on us(cheshm zadan).Even the richest Iranian living in Iran lives like he is homeless person, because they do not want others to put a curse on them.We also tend to be serious. We associate being serious with being caring.Live Love Laugh
Good point!
by Monda on Sat Jul 19, 2008 12:25 AM CDTYou know though, I think there comes a point where ineffective naggers actually get bored and disgusted with their own neghs/nags. Call me an optimist, but I have seen that trend happen in real life. And this is not that far away from real.
I still read lots of fresh well-written perspectives here from many different contributors, new and old. I skip the naggers by their names. The less attention we give them, the sooner they may change their expressive styles.
Is that Angelina Jolie as your avatar or do I need to go for another eye exam? :0)

by bajenaghe naghi on Fri Jul 18, 2008 03:48 PM CDTnegh zadan and pretending to be in constant pain is in our culture and blood. you ask someone "khob hale shoma chetore" mige: "aslam haalam khoob nist, az lahaaze ghalbi va mezaaji hamash tu dardam" we say this to keep the person who asked us the question happy so he he knows that in the health department he feels better than us. you see we iranians believe in khod zalili before others cheshmemoon bezanan or get jealous. Many times when I am asked how i am and i honestly say that life is great and could not be better, some iranians tell me to cool it down. they seriously think if you say good things about yourself nazar mikhori and you will die.
Nice writing

by Irate User (not verified) on Fri Jul 18, 2008 12:46 PM CDTWithout reading whatever this writer has to say today, for reasons already explained by others, I would like to remind you and anyone who leaves her comments that her blogs might face spontanteous combustion any moment as they have in the past,i.e. she deletes entire blogs and comment threads at her whim and she is proud of it, too. I think everybody should save their energies and boycott this writer's blogs.
Ebi joon, "I've noticed we
by TheMrs on Fri Jul 18, 2008 12:23 PM CDTEbi joon,
"I've noticed we all nag here. A bit too much if you ask me. " This is not in reference to our people's history. It's not about our victimization either. Those are historical facts.
In response to "What do you expect from a nation who for centuries been attacked, left in ruins( but resurrected again) by Arabs,Tatars,Mongols &... . "
I would say: strength, unity, love, political awareness.
I realize we mourn and we should. I realize societies break and cultrues shake under violence. But nagging is something else.
ebi jan , Thanks and Happy Birth Day

"I've noticed we all nag here. A bit too much if you ask me. "

Ebi : Your point ??
by Souri on Fri Jul 18, 2008 11:33 AM CDTebi jan, what was your point ?
I didn't get it. Would you please explain more about it's relation to the subject ? You know my English level...damn this English :O)
From a sophiscticated reader :)
by AnonymousThemrs (not verified) on Fri Jul 18, 2008 11:19 AM CDTI forgot to mention
I realize many people satirize religion here (as well as other subjects) and I know 99.99% of us aren't professional writers. But satire stops being funny, witty, analytical or profound when it's the same joke over and over. It gets boring. So as a reader, I make the complaint that COME ON. Pick a different religion. I'm willing to bet it's funnier than the same old same old. Or at least, pick a different angle.
Thanks for reading
Just to add...
by ebi amirhosseini on Fri Jul 18, 2008 10:49 AM CDTOnce in an interview Dr Darius Safvat ( the great Iranian music scholar &...)was asked :
Why traditional Iranian music is so sad, depressing, blu blu...!?

What do you expect from a nation who for centuries been attacked, left in ruins( but resurrected again) by Arabs,Tatars,Mongols &... .
