TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran double Olympic gold medallist Hossein Rezazadeh on Wednesday pulled out of the 2008 Games because he was not in good enough shape to defend his title, a weightlifting official said.
>>>I have always wondered why ther is no talk of this great man. Iranian hercules. A big man with a big heart. He made the name of Iran many many time stand out in the crowd.
Turks tried to buy him - he says NO
Bulgarians tried to buy him - he says NO
Azerbaijanis tried to buy him - he says NO
Mr. rezazadeh, since you won the first gold medal in olympic in 2000 you have become my greatest sporting hero. I have followed you all the way. I know how the IRI has mistreted you and I know you have been underpaid. But in my hear and many Iranian you are a national treasure, a national hero. A man with integrity and honesty.
No matter what your decision you are the man and hercules of the world. I don't think anyone ever can beat you.
God Bless you and your family

A Great Champion
by Pahlevan Amir (not verified) on Wed Jul 23, 2008 11:13 PM CDTHossein Rezazadeh will always be a Great Champion in all Iranians' Hearts.
Let's not forget the Great Champion of them all, Gholamreza Takhti, who was forced by the Shah to compete way after his 'Peak', and the disappointing results that followed.
It's always best to leave when you are at the 'Top' .... God bless him
Tell the truth Nasiri,
by Q on Wed Jul 23, 2008 08:18 PM CDTyou still would have supported him, if he defected to the US and played on the American team.
It's good to retire. He has already achieved the very top honor in his field. It can only be a disappointment from this point on.
If Rezazadeh is your hero
by Abolfazl (not verified) on Wed Jul 23, 2008 02:49 PM CDTIf Rezazadeh is your hero how come you don't accuse him of being a blind Muslim? he has Abolfazl on his olympic shirt. More Muslim that most Muslims wouldn't you say?
How come you don't say he is an apologist? Cat cut your tongue? Your hate speeches are only good for people here? As soon as someone reaches high places AND supports Islam and IRI openly, they are ok in you book and you suddenly say "god" bless him and his family? "God" is good now?!
