Options on Iran are more limited, but meaningful efforts at regime change and assisting Israel should it decide to strike Iran's nuclear facilities would be good first steps. Sadly, the chances Mr. Obama will adopt these policies are far less than the steadily dwindling possibility that the Bush administration might yet come back to reality. Mr. Obama's handling of the rogue states will -- at best -- continue the Bush policies, which failed to stop nuclear proliferation. Get ready for a dangerous ride.

Job opportunities...
by Ajam (not verified) on Fri Jan 02, 2009 09:20 AM PST...and John Bolton, straight out of U.N., can seek employment in a bathroom as a mop (provided he keeps his mustache)!
They wont touch Iran
by Toofantheoncesogreat (not verified) on Fri Jan 02, 2009 09:17 AM PSTIf you read the deployment figures and warship placements, and how afghanistan is going, military threats by the US cannot be taken seriously.
They are trying economical warfare at its worst, but so far, Iran has not turned into a 2003 Iraq or present day North Korea, and it never will.

by Javadi (not verified) on Fri Jan 02, 2009 09:02 AM PSTI hope you are wrong. In the current state of global economy, US can not afford to enter yet into another miscalculation by striking Iran. Consequences will be enormously costly and btw just destroying/bombing bunch of building housing nuclear facilities will not bring about the end for Iranian nuclear program. In this, the taste of happiness for US and Israelis will not last, but political and economical problems in monumental quantities will. In the last decade, US have done enough damage to its economy and prestige that will take seventy years to remedy them all. Striking Iran will be foolish and open up a can of nightmare for all to experience. Let's hope for peace and cool heads in resolution of all problems confronting humanity.
Bush like FDR???
by Izzy (not verified) on Fri Jan 02, 2009 08:23 AM PSTI think that Bush might strike Iran to stop Inauguration.
Bush III on Iran ?
by balali (not verified) on Fri Jan 02, 2009 08:15 AM PSTIn the last five years the use of carrots and sticks diplomacy have not work with Iran. Iranian politicians have shown and proven that they will not give up nuclear program. America as well as European has failed to understand this, precisely because of bully attitude and old outdated mentality (do as I say, not as I do). Tough talk and ridiculous articles such as this by hate monger and idiot Bolton will not work and last, but tough and engaged policies adopted by Iran will. In today’s Iranian politics, those Mullahs who are in charge have learned their lessons well and the old fashion style. They may look like an idiot and out of touch with modern world, but they ain’t stupid or irrational and they certainly don’t get intimidated by ineffective saber rattling arousing by bunch of lunatics from the west. Long live Iran and Iranians and down with the current cast of IRI leadership.
