TEHRAN – The Iranian Armed Forces are in full military preparedness to repel any U.S. possible attack, Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi has said.
“If the U.S. wants to act logically and wisely, it will not take such an action, especially after its disgraceful experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Vahidi told reporters on Wednesday when asked about Iran’s response to the U.S. possible invasion.
“But the powerful Iran is completely prepared to give a firm and crushing response to this country’s hostile and unwise actions,” he said.
Commenting on the recently enforced U.S. sanctions against Venezuelan state-owned oil firm due to its relations with Iranian companies, he said it was an “illogical and unjustifiable” measure.
The U.S. always uses the sanctions as a tool against independent nations, he said, adding, “These sanctions show the U.S. weakness and abjection.”
The official also said that the U.S. sanctions have not had any impact on Iran.
“The U.S. has been imposing sanctions on Iran for 32 years, but these sanctions have had no negative impact on the country but rather have helped Iran’s ever-increasing progress,” he said.
