We've thwarted Iran's nuke plans, says MI6... but Tehran is only 'two years away from a bomb'

British spies thwarted Iranian attempts to acquire nuclear weapons, the head of MI6 has revealed.

In a rare public appearance, Sir John Sawers said covert operations by UK, American and Israeli agents stopped Tehran’s plans as early as 2008.

However the Secret Intelligence Service chief warned Iran was only ‘two years away’ from becoming nuclear armed.
