Iranian politicians and public raise concerns about response to quake that killed 300 people and injured thousands more.

Iran [1]'s government has faced criticism from politicians and the public over its handling of relief efforts after two large earthquakes killed 300 people and injured thousands in the north-west of the country.

Members of parliament representing the affected areas complained about the shortage of tents for survivors, parliamentary news agency Icana said on Monday, and Iran's top lawmaker, Ali Larijani, stepped into the debate.

"The crisis management headquarters must take broader steps to alleviate these concerns," Larijani, a rival to the president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad [2], and possible candidate in the 2013 presidential elections, was quoted as saying on Monday.
