On October 29, 2012 the Associated Press posted a new item [1] on its website concerning the dissolution of Iran's National Orchestra.
It provided brief historical information confusing the Iran National Orchestra with the Tehran Symphony Orchestra.
Iran National Orchestra was formed in 1999. The orchestra includes Persian traditional instruments, strings, and woodwind instruments. In the Associated Press piece we read that the history of Iran National Orchestra goes back to the 1930s, clearly a confusion with the Teheran Symphony Orchestra.
The post also states that Iran's National Orchestra has had eight different conductors since the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, while it was in fact formed twenty years after Islamic Revolution.
I immidiately contacted AP office in the United States but could not reach anyone and the news piece is circulating everywhere on internet. Quite unfortunate!
