Losing Latin America: What Will the Obama Doctrine Be Like?

Latin America is now mostly governed [1] by left or center-left governments that differ in policy and style -- from the populism of Hugo Chávez in Venezuela to the reformism of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil and Michelle Bachelet in Chile. Yet all share a common goal: asserting greater autonomy from the United States.

But What About Latin America?

Latin America's growing ability to achieve autonomy from the U.S. is probably the only good thing that has resulted from Bush's foreign policy, due to over-extension in the Middle East.  But what does the future hold?  And what will Obama do if he is elected?  It isn't very clear.
