Iranian of the Day

As always, I'd like to bring you info on things political. There is a (progressive) Iranian American running for City Council in Atlanta (election is in Nov 2009) and at this early stage, our community should support him. I tossed $25.91 into his piggy-bank - will you match me? (if we all add $0.91 - it will be an indicator to the campaign that the money is coming from Iranian Americans I = 9, A =1)

Why is it important to contribute to him 14 months before election:

1) To show the political world that the Iranian American community will support its own (Discussion about Identity politics)
2) Early money will get you press-attention and 'viability' which gives you momentum
3) Early money will scare away challengers
4) Early money has a multiplier effect in that it can be used to raise 6x more money (this is a real statistic)

So I encourage you to get involved early and often in the campaigns of people who inspire you - and for our community's sake, it is imperative to support IA candidates that match our views (Darius Shahinfar running for Congress in NY-21, Ross MirKarimi in San Fransisco, Mayor Jimmy Delshad in Beverly Hills, and Susan Amini running for Superior Court Judge in Seattle to name a few)
