Netanyahu asks US to help Israel avoid war crime charges

WASHINGTON — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked US lawmakers Wednesday to help fend off Palestinian claims that his country engaged in “war crimes” while defending itself against attacks from Gaza, one top lawmaker told The Post.

The Israeli leader later told international reporters that his country employed “extraordinary measures” to avoid civilian deaths in the nearly month-long conflict.

He should have never run for President...and I voted for him twice. Statesmanship requires elevating/raising one above politics and standing for what is right and measuring that against wrong. That can't be achieved by giving lame repetitive speeches or wanting to, craving for, eternal popularity within any specific group or party, either by action or by inaction!

One wonders if he is so confident that his military did not any war crimes and in fact Hamas are responsible for all that death and destruction and they committed war crimes, why then go thru so much length to stop ICC from investigating it.

Shouldn't they be encouraging it?
