It seems that Syria was just the dress rehearsal, for the Russians and Americans.
The red line for the Shiite policies in Iran, has been crossed with the 20% enrichment. For too long, the US could not agree with the Russians on anything. But now they do.
We all know how the Russian and US military procurement suppliers, competed for business. The Shiites had other plans. But their plans were threatened, when their shrines in Syria, were exposed to other Muslims.
No one is with them. No Sunni, or Russian for sure, but ironically maybe the Democrats. Weird you say. No, just look at JC's face in the picture. What happened the last time they said hello to Iran?
I remember the days when my old Saudi room mate at Princeton said to me, "Ali, we Muslims have taken over your country. Khomeini is a good Muslim". I showed him the middle finger and said, "Shiites are worse than anything you have ever seen mate. Their Seyyeds are more Royal than any Pahlavi or Qajar. I know, Safavids are my ancestors, and they wiped out Sunnis, I am sorry to say". That shut him up.
It seems that I was right. The Shiite policy has backfired on them. They are split. You know something is desperately wrong, when your enemy suddenly turns out to be your friend. Poor old Rouhani has already had egg and shoes thrown at him by the die-hards. Funny but the only praise he has is from the western liberals.
The IRGC and their merchants stand to lose a lot of contracts, as and when Iranians in the US, start to bring better products than the Chinese importers. At least that is what the US liberals are hoping for.
So the scenario is panning out just as I expected. The liberals in US and liberals Shiites are embracing. The die-hard Shiites will want to get their adrenalin rush with their nukes. So expect high testosterone bombastic comments from the IRGC and their cronies. That would be music to the ears of the Israelis and US neocons. And they want another North Korea in the Middle East.
The red lines will be drawn for the Shiites, and it will be no dress rehearsal this time. It is going to mean total destruction of the Shiite liberals, and their own civil war with the die-hards. Or of course much worse than that. It could mean the same scenario the US was about to launch on Syria from the air.
Either way, the economy is strangling the Shiites of whatever flavor, and they will be squeezed, and they will scream. The Rial will dive again and the Tehran Stock Market will continue to attract funny money and soar.
