It is a simple fact now that Europe is competing with the U.S. strategically in many ways. Yes, there is a false façade of unity and alliance, behind which most Europeans (if you get to know them well) actually have a deep seated contempt and arrogant view towards Americans. To most Europeans Americans are ‘cowboys’ like George Bush to be manipulated and engaged for the sole benefit of European supremacy. And having lived on both sides of the pond, I have to say that I have found politicians and government staff in Europe to be a great deal more sophisticated than their American counterparts.
Yes, the Europeans are condescending and arrogant. They are highly racist too, just consider their views towards immigrants and Muslims and the massive size of their ultra-rightwing political parties! And Americans are not immune to the same European condescending attitude.
And quite honestly, Americans too have put themselves in a situation where they can and have been manipulated by Europeans. All Brits have to do is open their mouths and lay on their thick accents (exaggerated for American ears) and they are either thought of as experts or better yet male studs to bang impressionable American women (who especially work in the US government).
And so, Americans have been systematically manipulated to take on projects for the sole benefit of Europeans often at huge losses to American prosperity and prestige. Case in point Iran.
In 1953, when Iran’s democratically elected government nationalized Iranian oil from BP, the Brits came crying to President Eisenhower claiming that Iran was turning ‘communist’ and engaged the U.S. to carry out a coup to reinstall their oil concessions in the country. Nothing could have been further from the truth, but so what, the Brits got back their fields and took on a 25 year contract with Iran as a major player in the ‘consortium’ that exploited Iranian oil. But this coup created deep seated mistrust and antagonism for the US in Iran, and kept the Brits largely immune from the same Iranian anger.
In 1978, it was a group of European leaders – James Callaghan (Britain), Giscard D’estain (France) and Helmut Schmidt (Germany) who met with Jimmy Carter in Guadeloupe who persuaded Carter to topple the regime in Iran and install the (British backed) Mullahs in place. And Ayatollah Khomeini duly travelled from his home in Paris to Tehran on an Air France 747 chartered by the government in France. America's most stalwarth ally, the Shah was supplanted with a regime of Mullahs with key leaders among the Mullahs being financed and trained by the Brits.
In 2003, when Britain had its eyes on Iraqi oil and gas (since its North Sea oil has basically run out) – and wanted to grab the second largest oil and gas reserves in the world – it was false British intelligence on Aluminum tubes in Niger and claims (and pictures) of Chemical Weapon plants in Iraq that eventually persuaded the American public to support the war …none of which ended up being true. The Chemical Weapons plant ended up being a hydrogen gas generator used for filling meteorological balloons, the Niger Aluminum tubes never existed. But after the invasion, BP and Shell grabbed the two largest oil fields in Iraq, but US paid out over 3 Trillion dollars in the war along with over 4000 lives of American soldiers. American assets were duly leveraged again.
It was Maggie Tatcher that first identified Gorbachev and then worked behind the scenes to splinter the Soviet Union – again with American cash to fund the ‘transition’ and now the Brits successfully control Azerbaijan’s Oil in the Caspian Sea.
There are numerous examples of European leverage of American assets for essentially their own benefit. There are also examples like the Israel-Palestinian conflict that has fallen squarely in American hands to resolve, but that were originally ‘created’ by the Brits to begin with – when they promised the same land to both the Palestinians and Israelis at the same time (after defeating the Ottomans in the first world war).
The Europeans are like little boys picking a fight with someone, then running to their bigger brother to come in and protect them. The question Americans always have to ask is “why do you keep picking fights?” – You dumb s..t. And why they do keep running to me?
But there is one other point that is very important that should be made. When there are crowds in Tehran chanting anti-American slogans, who supplies the American flag, and leads the chants? I humbly submit that these crowds are instigated and organized. There is no question about it. They are for show – and international media are very much part of the spectacle.
It is now very clear to ordinary Iranians that the Mullahs in Iran are European controlled. The whole game all along has been to put them in charge, suppress Iranian aspirations, and then go after Iranian sovereign oil in the Caspian Sea and Persian Gulf – through British puppet dictators like Aliev in Azerbaijan and the “Royal family” in Qatar – to suck out Iranian assets from right under Iranians. And the Brits basically don’t want anyone to screw up the plan.
Had “W” (Bush jr) invaded Iran, Iran likely would have retaliated by attacking British assets in Azerbaijan and Qatar. That would have been devastating to Britain that now depends on ripping off Azeris and Arabs to keep their country afloat after the demise of North Sea oil. The Brits fought hard in the US to stop “W” from even touching Iran, they pushed for sanctions, which has always played into their strategy for the region.
Even in Iraq, I submit that the U.S. has been basically kicked out by a united front of European, Russian and Iranian agents – to find Britain basically become the largest oil field operator in the country.
The Brits have cleverly kept Americans out of Iran, and continued with their plans to steal resources from the regions around Iran. American foreign policy has been confounded and undermined for European benefit.
American are hated throughout the region – yet Europeans have cleverly penetrated major business opportunities throughout the Middle East…. Including and especially Iran. British controlled Dubai is basically a staging post for imports and exports to Iran of virtually any commodity Iranians need. And if you go to the bazaar in Tehran, all the money lenders have European backers from places like Italy and Britain.
So, next time you see a crowd in Tehran shout anti-American slogans be very sure that the flag was supplied by European agents working the crowd. Europe, quite simply, doesn’t want US to control assets in the region.
America’s best friends are actually America’s biggest enemies. And all this playing out in the streets of Tehran.
(One last comment, I should make is that Americans should not underestimate the influence Europeans have in US domestic politics too. This rivalry is playing out all over American streets too. There is substantial media influence in the U.S. at different levels - every thing from Piers Morgan, to even local radio. And just moving on one step forward, I think some of this anti-Obama culture being espoused by Fox News etc. is being fed from outside the U.S. Americans beware.)
