This week, it was announced that negotiations with Turkey over full membership to the EU have resumed. Strange - isn't it? I mean Turkey had been refused, and embarrassingly rejected multiple times since it first started 'negotiating' back in 1987. On the one hand it was the French and Germans who could NOT imagine giving carte-blanche for more muslim 'immigrants' to settle down in their countries but then, on the other hand there is seductive appeal to adding Turkey's growing economy and a host of neighboring states including Azerbaijan and eventually Israel (once they topple Assad - which is part of the plan) to the EU and eventually to the European Central Bank (and therefore the Euro).
Yes, the French, Germans, (and I dare I say it the Danes, Brits etc.) have real problems with Muslims and senior leaders in France are on record saying Turkey will never be offered full membership. But, money talks, and on the other hand if they keep adding members to the EU, the Europeans have a real shot at supplanting the dollar as the world's reserve currency for trade. Very slowly - but systematically they will have undermined U.S. hegemony and re-eastablished and Empire of their own.
George's Bush dreams of empire will actually be replaced by a very real European Empire - in the same region that U.S. has always considered in its vital strategic interests. My prediction is that Iraq will be splintered along with Syria and a new Kurdish state will be spawned from Iran to Lebanon - and Lebanon too will be attacked soon enough (because Israel has its eye on massive oil fields right on its border with Lebanon).
Yes, Turkey's ascesion will be followed by other countries that sing in the Eurovision song contest - Israel, and Azerbaijan ...and eventually Kurdistan!! And note that both Israel and Azerbaijan have hosted the Eurovision song contest already!! They are Europeans - already. Azerbaijan is a member of the EUFA (Europe's soccer association) - and their teams play European giants in Baku and have their games shown throughout Europe.
Once that happens, the Europeans can pipe Israeli oil and gas in addition to Azerbaijan's (Iranian originating Caspian) oil and gas through Turkey to Eastern Europe, and also connect in Iraq and Qatar's production too (both dominated by BP, Shell and France's Total).
Sooner rather than later - and very incrementally Europe will dominate the world's largest energy corridor, to match the world's largest economy supporting a major currency --- the Euro. If you don't believe me just look at the facts: Europe's combined GDP (of its 28 states) is now $17 Trillion compared to $15.7 Trillion for the U.S.; you have a currency supported by some 20+ countries without the ability of one single Tea Party nut job being able to threaten a government shut down or a default on treasury debt; and if they control (via Turkish pipelines and Market presence) the world's greatest energy corridor (from the Caspian, to the Mediteranean to the Persian Gulf) they can make energy deals in euro's and eliminate the U.S. dollar as a petrocurrency and a major currency for global trade.
Yes, there is a North American Free Trade Accord, but it does NOT underpin the U.S. dollar, and does not create a new North American central bank.
So much for the 3 Trillion dollars spent in Iraq. The Brits, very cleverly have played both sides in this game - appeasing both their European partners and the U.S. When the time is right, the British Pound Sterling - can (and will) join the Euro and that day will be the 'end' of the US dollar.
The only way out, I think, is for the U.S. to make regime change in Iran a major strategic goal, and use Iran as a major ally to draw in the Turks into a new Central Asian Union (Median Union) - that can rival the EU - and control the region (from Iran to Israel - and Central Asia) in tandem with the U.S.
In essence Europe needs to be 'constrained' and 'contained' at its border with Turkey. And the prize of Central Asian, Mediateranean and Persian Gulf oil should be shared between the U.S. and the Median Union....not simply handed over for control to the Europeans.
My biggest fear is that foolish elected officials inside the beltway in Washington are simply too distracted, and small minded to truly understand the massive strategic game that is being played out right before their eyes. Europe is a threat and they are carefully maneuvering to dominate the 21st century and undermine the U.S.
In a strange way, this may not neccessarily be bad for the world, for the U.S. has shown very poor global leadership. But you have to ask yourself if the Europeans would be better. And the answer is absolutely not. The U.S. at least has a constitution and a history that ultimately supports freedom and liberty - if the Americans support a dictator it is always with tremendous guilt and a view that the support will be temporary - and that the people of the nation will be eventually liberated. But the Europeans - they are bastards. The Europeans could NOT care less about decency, freedom, liberty, fairness etc. They want to grab all the loot and think of the locals as 'lower species' of humans...undeserving of the greater gifts of freedom and liberty. Europeans have after all undermined Iranian democracy 3 times in the past 100 years, and are silently behind the Mullahs in Iran. They have maintained diplomatic relations with the Mullahs for over 30 years. There is considerable trade. Sanction busting through Britain's Dubai colonial outpost ...etc etc.
No, I think ultimately the Americans make for better global leaders...and can and should improve with time. Better than the Russians, better than the Chinese, better than the Europeans ...much better. And I see the expansion of the European Empire as a huge threat to Iran, a huge threat to the U.S. and ultimately a huge threat to the world. Like I said, the Europeans are not to be trusted....when it comes to Iran...this expansion can not be good for anyone.
